Privacy Policy

• Account info: name, phone number, email (if you sign up with email), and profile photo.
• Location info you choose: your city and area/neighborhood, set by you — not automatic GPS tracking. Some features (current weather, the Flood Monitor's "distance to station," and hospital search) can optionally use your device's live location if you grant permission, only to power that specific feature.
• Content you create: listings (marketplace, rental, and job), photos, comments, ratings, and messages you send through in-app chat.
• Activity: ratings you give and receive, items you favorite, recently viewed listings, and basic usage like view counts.
• Diagnostics: if the app crashes, we collect a crash report (stack trace, device model, OS version, and app state at the time) through Google's Firebase Crashlytics to help us find and fix the bug.

• To operate the marketplace, rental, and job boards — showing your listings to nearby users and theirs to you.
• To enable in-app chat between users arranging a transaction.
• To calculate and display trust scores based on real transaction ratings.
• To power optional convenience features — local weather, distance to the nearest flood-monitoring station, and nearby hospital search — only when you grant location permission for that feature.
• To keep the community safe: reviewing reports of abuse, fraud, or prohibited listings, and investigating violations of our Terms & Conditions.

• Your name, profile photo, bio, city, trust score, and member-since date are visible to anyone using the app.
• Your marketplace, rental, and job listings and their photos are public.
• Your phone number is hidden by default. You can choose to reveal it to people you're chatting with from Profile → Privacy Settings.
• Chat messages are visible to the participants in that conversation. They are not visible to other users, and we do not sell, rent, or use them for advertising.

Everest Market employs content moderation to keep the platform safe. This means authorized staff may access listings, comments, and ratings in these situations:

• A user reports a listing, message, or account for abuse, fraud, harassment, or a Terms & Conditions violation.
• Our automated systems flag a listing or account for review (e.g. suspected prohibited items or spam).
• You contact support for help with a transaction, dispute, or your account.
• We are legally required to, or it's necessary to investigate suspected illegal activity.

Access like this is limited to staff who need it to do their job, and significant actions are logged for accountability. We never sell your listing content to third parties.

Everest Market is built on Firebase (Google Cloud) for authentication, data storage, notifications, and crash reporting, and uses Google Sign-In as an optional login method. Weather data comes from WeatherAPI.com, gold/silver and forex rates from public rate providers, and Flood Monitor data from Nepal's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology via the government's BIPAD Portal — all fetched through our own servers, not directly by your device, so no personal data is shared with these providers beyond what's needed to return the relevant public data (e.g. a coordinate for a weather lookup).

Your data is stored on Google's Firebase infrastructure and protected by industry-standard security practices, including access controls and audit logging for administrative actions.

• You can edit or remove your profile photo, bio, and location at any time from Edit Profile.
• You can control phone number visibility from Privacy Settings.
• You can delete individual listings at any time.
• You can turn off location permission at any time in your device settings — features that use it will simply ask you to enter a location manually instead.
• You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Privacy Settings — see "Account Deletion" below.

You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Privacy Settings. Deleting your account does not erase it immediately:

• Your account enters a 7-day recovery window. During this time, it is hidden from other users, and any active listings you posted are hidden as well.
• You can restore your account at any point during these 7 days simply by logging back in — you'll be shown the option to recover it.
• During the recovery window, your account data (including activity logs) may be accessed by authorized administrators for compliance and support purposes.
• After 7 days, if the account has not been recovered, it is permanently and irreversibly deleted from all systems — including your profile, listings, messages, ratings, and any other associated data. Once this happens, it cannot be recovered under any circumstances.

We send notifications for things you'd expect — new messages, comments, likes, and ratings on your content, job application updates, and important announcements or safety alerts from our team. You can manage notification permissions from your device settings at any time.

Everest Market is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll note the "last updated" date above when we do.
